tea towels - a source of inspiration

So, this is what happened.  We went shopping (the family including husband) and saw these 5 lovely tea towels.

Thick cotton, pastel colours and thought they would look lovely in our newish kitchen.

But then I realized that I hadn't much fabric for baby bunting so I used it.

Cut out the triangles,

Sewed them together

Clipped the point

Turned inside out

and ironed flat.

Managed to cut and make a total of 30 double sided triangles.

This equates to 2 lots of 3.5m bunting.

The fabric weight is fantastic.

The fabric is very washable.

The colours are just perfect for a baby's room.

So my hint today is next time you go shopping, take a look at tea towels, they are often textured, the colours can be great and they are often really really really inexpensive.

If you have used tea towels in another way ( other than for drying dishes etc ) then please share with me.  Ideas are always welcomed.

Thanks for looking
Sara

  1. Adorable! By using a set of tea towels you have a group of fabric that you know will coordinate together. Great idea.

Nice idea to use teatowels for bunting. Next trip to TK Maxx I'll look out for some.

  8. Hey Sara! Thanks for commenting back! Re. my comment about the windows - no, it's not the PVC, it was the little windows for opening which I find so typical for Britain (and Ireland, where I live)... will now try again to follow your blog ;-)

  12. I have some tea towels I plan to turn into pillows. You know that "someday" list, but at least I have the towels already.

I love your towels. Knowing me I'd be tempted just to leave ones that pretty in a basket in fear I'd ruin them, but that bunting is very cute and would be perfect in a baby's or even a little girl's room.

  16. I want to express some appreciation to the writer just for rescuing me
from this particular setting. As a result of surfing throughout
the internet and meeting thoughts which were not beneficial,
I assumed my life was well over. Being alive minus the answers to the difficulties you have fixed by way
of this article content is a serious case, as well as the kind
which could have badly affected my entire career if I had not noticed your web
blog. Your own knowledge and kindness in touching all the details was valuable.
I am not sure what I would've done if I hadn't discovered such a step like this.
I can at this time look forward to my future.

Thanks so much for the reliable and sensible guide. I won't hesitate to propose your web sites to anyone who desires guidance on this area.
